Natural Imposition
Sheila Murphy

Leave the oboe reeds to me; you just play
what you recall about the night sweats.

She will pantomime his blasphemy and breath.
I will overcome recidivist phenomena while sleeping.

Ribbed cold fixtures cure the rest stops lingering
apart from function where it hurts again.

I usually meander in the foreground
while you wait for my awareness to revive.

Simplify my life by sleeping with me here
until the pencil sketch grows fully formed in darkness.
